1. When did you come to Halifax?

Ans: I came to Halifax in January,1987.

 

2. How was Halifax at that time?

Ans: It was a very small community at that time. We all were like a big joint family.

 

3. How was the celebration of Durga Puja at that time?

Ans: I celebrated Durga Puja for three years in Moncton. After that, my husband, Amal De joined the organizing team of Durga Puja in Halifax.Food preparation at the time of Puja was one important thing. Drama in cultural programme was another important part of Durga Puja. My husband was very involved in puja. I have beautiful memories of those days.

 

4. How is the Bengali community now in Halifax?

Ans: Now the community is very, very big. On the other hand, I am old too. I don’t know most of the people in the community now.

 

5. How is the celebration of Durga Puja now? Your advice to the Bengali community.

Ans: The Puja is now for the new generation.The way they are doing the Puja; I am very proud of them. I might not stay in Halifax very long. Keep up the good work.
